Abstract: Strategies for promoting industry-specific competencies in vocational programs are crucial for aligning educational outcomes with labor market demands. This study examines various approaches to enhance industry-specific skills among vocational students. The objectives are: (1) to identify effective strategies for developing industry-specific competencies, (2) to assess the impact of these strategies on student employability, and (3) to propose best practices for vocational institutions. A survey research design is employed to gather insights from students, educators, and industry professionals. The sample size includes 350 participants selected through purposive sampling. The case study focuses on vocational institutions in Lagos State, known for their diverse industrial sectors. Findings indicated that partnerships with industry, updated curricula, and practical training significantly improved industry-specific competencies. However, challenges such as limited resources and outdated teaching methods were noted. Recommendations included increasing industry collaborations, regularly updating curricula, and investing in state-of-the-art training facilities.
